Crockpot Grape Juice Cordial/Concentrate

Plenty grapes this year....everyone had a good feed, froze some and had a go at some Grape Juice cordial.....

Bottled Grape Juice Cordial

De-stemmed and washed them twice ...

Washed, de-stemmed grapes

...into a small crockpot...

Grapes into the crock pot
...added water...about a quarter of the crockpot....turned the thing on high...and did other things for four hours or so....

Grape juice through two colanders-first sieve

...mashed the grapes lightly...put them through two colanders...

Grape juice was looking gorgeous after this sieve

...then a sieve... then put the juice through some mutton cloth....

First sieved grape juice

...each time the juice was sieved it came out clearer and clearer until it looked like a gorgeous clear soup broth...and it smelt divine!

Photos don't do it justice (saving for a decent camera) but the colour absolutely gorgeous...

Depending on your own taste add one half cup sugar to one litre concentrate.....

To drink add water to taste....

Yummy Grape Juice Cordial ready!
Result:

This was scrummy gorgeous! Some liked it neat with ice, I liked it watered. It tasted like alcohol to one person. No one got tipsy.

The grandkids liked it and said it tasted like the 'Hubba Bubba' Grape bubble gum...I agree....it did.

Worthwhile exercise. Will definitely be doing this again. Roll on next season xxx...

Notes:

I have no idea how long it would keep. It didn't last that long for anyone to query.

I discovered the potential of the crock pot a couple of years ago and now am solidly in love with crock pot cooking...so easy...and economical xxx...

Extra:

I made some labels for the bottles - but my printer decided not to play

Labels

 - so I made some labels on black paper....

Black Labels

I would recommend you try it if you have oodles of grapes xxx...

  1. That sounds like a great way to deal with an over abundance of grapes. I prefer to eat them though, skins and all ...
